Artists Corner - Ely's hidden treasure

and welcome to Ely's best secondhand and antiquarian book shop, Octagon Books.

John and Jacqueline Williams established Octagon Books in 1982, a new outlet in Ely for selling secondhand and antiquarian books.

They ran Ely bookfair for a couple of years and opened a bookshop in Newnham Street. The shop was sold when they made plans to move to Yorkshire, but these plans did not materialise.

They became members of the P.B.F.A. (Provincial Booksellers Fairs Association) and managed on it's behalf the bi-annual Bury St Edmunds bookfair and started and managed the Natural History and Gardening bookfair held in the Cambridge University Botanic Garden. As members of the P.B.F.A they attend many of it's bookfairs throughout the country.

In 1999 they were offered the facilities of a bookroom in Cloisters Antiques shop, opposite the Lamb Hotel in Lynn Road.

Local residents and tourists are now able to find out of print books of local interest, also books on the Fens and surrounding areas of East Anglia. See other book catagories to the left.
